Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

PreconceptionAt Rhythms we believe in natural or holistic healing, working with women in Portland and Kennebunk, ME and Portsmouth, NH who suffer from PCOS, or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.  This endocrine disorder occurs most often in women of reproductive age, and is fairly common.  If you have PCOS you may experience irregular menstrual cycles, cysts on your ovaries, even the growth of facial hair or obesity although you may have only one or two symptoms.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome may be caused by a hormone imbalance and may have a genetic component.  PCOS may also impact fertility and be a factor in miscarriages, so it is important to be tested if you believe you have this disorder.  In some cases, women with this syndrome do not have periods at all.  We use acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and other therapies that help to balance hormones and improve overall health and well-being that are essential in healing.  Nutrition, exercise, supplements and Chinese herbs all work together to help PCOS imbalances.

Hormone Imbalance Could be a Factor

At Rhythms we tailor treatment and therapy to the specific health needs of each patient.  To learn more about our holistic approach to PCOS or to schedule an appointment, contact us now at 207-615-4240.
