Acupuncture during pregnancy can help to alleviate many common conditions from morning sickness, to pain and stress.

More importantly, research is now demonstrating that maternal stress during pregnancy is associated with shorter telomeres, and that the shorter the telomeres, the shorter the lifespan. Why is this important? It’s important because telomere shortening occurs in the fetus when the mother is stressed. This stress exposure before birth can impact aging and disease susceptibility over the mother’s and the child’s lifespan.1 This is one very important reason we recommend acupuncture treatment throughout one’s pregnancy to reduce stress.2 Read more about this on our Sustaining a Healthy Pregnancy page.
